Dress Code

The clubhouse at Bangor Golf Club is a welcoming environment for those who visit our club. On and off the course, clubs consider Golf dress code to be essential to uphold how golf clubs appear to golfers and visitors alike. However, we believe appropriate behaviour on the course and in our clubhouse outweighs how any individual dresses. By fostering such an environment, we can ensure that all who visit us have the best time possible.

Whether you are a seasoned golfer or are new to the game, Bangor Golf Club must share the following guidelines for appropriate apparel on the course and while spending time in the clubhouse.

We advise all members to change out of dirty or wet clothing after their round before entering Café Uno or the bar areas.

With the continued evolution of golf clothing, Bangor Golf Club decided that any recognised apparel purchased from a professional golf retail outlet is acceptable to wear on the course.

The following basic guidelines for our golf dress code include:
• Gentleman’s shirts designed to wear outside the waistband are acceptable.
• All golfers must wear socks at all times.
• Tailored shorts are acceptable. However, we do not believe that loose-fitting cargo shorts to be golf apparel.

Those who wish to play golf should also note that suitable golf dress code must be adhered to on the putting greens, at the practice net and on the course itself.

Whether you choose to enjoy post-round refreshments or bring your family for a meal, we pride ourselves in providing a warm, family-friendly environment for all.
• Visitors should wear smart-casual clothing when in the clubhouse, including smart denim, free from rips, frays or distressed looks.
• We do not permit sports clothes, such as football shirts, caps, and beach attire in the clubhouse.
• Golf shoes of any kind are not allowed within the clubhouse except inside the locker rooms.
• Smart shirts or blouses designed to wear outside the waistband are permitted.
• Clubhouse guests can wear modern casual shoes, such as smart trainers, sandals, loafers and deck shoes.

The dress code outlined above ensures that anyone who visits Bangor Golf Club feels comfortable while upholding the management and council's values.

Those who wish to arrange a private event can arrange an appointment with the general manager to discuss dress code requirements.

Contact the general manager by email by or our contact page below. For any social events held within the clubhouse, organisers will list any dress code on the event ticket and notice.
